Product Description

"9th generation" SATA SSD series (PM893 and PM897) meet almost any application in terms of capacity and write durability. For example, the low PM893 SSD is an ideal choice for high reliability, low-power server boot drivers. The higher capacity PM893 SSD is suitable for various mainstream read intensive applications, such as collaboration platforms, unstructured data storage, content delivery networks (CDN), and hyper converged infrastructure, such as the capacity layer of VMware VSAN nodes.  PM897 SSD provides higher write durability, making it a hybrid read/write workload, such as hyper converged general-purpose or dedicated cache layer VMware's VSAN, logging applications, online transaction processing infrastructure (OLTP), database servers, and other general-purpose servers with legacy workloads that have unknown write characteristics. All SSDs in this series use the same controller and V-NAND flash memory, simplifying customer certification and ensuring reliable high-capacity supply.
 
PM893 offers the highest performance connectivity allowed by SATA: up to 560 MB/s sequential access and up to 98000 IOPS 4 kbyte random read access. The highest performance not only allows your workload to be completed as quickly as possible, but also allows for efficient sharing of large capacity drives to maximize performance per GB of stored data.
During normal power outages, the host server allocates time to maintain data integrity by sending standby commands to each device. If an unexpected power outage occurs, the cached data in the internal DRAM buffer of the storage device may be lost. This may occur in the event of an unexpected power outage or when the user unplugges the device from the system. However, the PLP architecture of PM893 and PM897 SSDs is designed to prevent data loss due to unexpected power outages. When a fault is detected, the SSD will immediately use the energy stored in its PLP capacitor to provide enough time to transfer the cached data from DRAM to flash memory, ensuring that the data is not lost.
